The Symposium is the culmination of the “Analysis and Investment for Low-Emission Growth” (AILEG) component of the Enhancing Capacity for Low Emission Development Strategies (EC-LEDS) programme, to which the Governments of the USA and Jamaica recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding in June 2013.
AILEG provides technical assistance to build the capacity of the Government of Jamaica and other stakeholders with three priority areas (1) Climate Finance Analysis; (2) Economic Modeling for Low Emissions Development; and, (3) Integration of Low Emissions Planning into National Development Planning.
The symposium will be officially opened by the Hon. Phillip Paulwell, Minister of Science, Technology, Energy and Mining, Hon. Ian Hayles, State Minister in the Ministry of Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change and Ms Denise Herbol, USAID Mission Director in Jamaica. It will bring together stakeholders from the public, private and international development partner organisations to share and discuss opportunities for addressing climate change as part of our development agenda.
