Launch of State of the Caribbean Climate Report

The UWI in partnership with the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and EU funding partners will host the virtual launch of the State of the Caribbean Climate Report – Information for Resilience Building on November 23.

Members of the regional media will  cover the launch which will include a presentation of the Caribbean Climate Report by Professor Michael Taylor, Dean of The UWI Faculty of Science and Technology and Director, Climate Studies Group, Mona (CSGM).

A moderated Q&A, featuring a Panel comprising the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology & Hydrology (CIMH), the CSGM and CDB will follow.

The Report provides critical analysis and discussion on Caribbean climate, including, observed variability and trends, recent extreme events, projections for key variables, observed and potential impacts for climate sensitive sectors as well as an overview of climate information and services within the region.

It is geared towards increasing decision-makers’ basic understanding of climate variability and change, facilitating evidence-based planning and policy, and implementing prioritized actions tailored to respond to climatic threats as well as sector-specific sensitivity contexts.
