The Office of Utilities Regulations (OUR) has set June 17 as the deadline for the submission of final proposals for the 360 megawatt project.
The OUR has advised that it met with the five short-listed entities and that it has provided them with instructions for final proposals.
The regulatory body did not provide details.
The companies vying for the project are Armourview Holdings, Azurest-Cambridge, Energy World International Ltd, the Jamaica Public Service Company and Optimal Energy.
The OUR says it expects to complete the selection of the highest ranked entities by Friday July 12.
The agency says it expects the 360 megawatt project to begin construction by November 29 and be completed by December 2015.
The 360 megawatt project is part of efforts by the government to expand the supply of energy for the national grid.
The aim is to cut the country’s oil import bill as well as to bring down the cost of electricity.
