French utility EDF has reportedly withdrawn from a 100MW geothermal project set to be developed in Dominica putting the future of the scheme in doubt.

 

According to France Antilles, the main daily newspaper in Martinique, the project would have provided power not only to Dominica but also Martinique and Guadeloupe.

 

Low potential profits from the project are reported as a possible reason behind it walking away from the initiative, according to a report in dominicanewsonline.com.

 

Dominica has previously stated its intention to target a potential output of about 120MW of geothermal power, 100 MW of which, is to be exported, the newswire said.
