EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
CARIBBEAN HUB – ACP MEAS PROJECT: INTERNSHIP FACILITY
The Caribbean Network for Urban and Land Management (CNULM) and CARICOM Secretariat are seeking to advance the region’s transition toward a green economy, as it relates to the urban and land sector. We are seeking an intern to be based at the CNULM at The University of West Indies in St. Augustine, Trinidad for three (3) months as part of the Internship Facility of the CARIBBEAN HUB – ACP MEAS Project. The stipend is US$1000/month.
The proposed scope of work of the intern shall entail the following:
- Assist the Project Director in the preparation of a project proposal related the green economy and Caribbean Cities for the ACP Science Technology Innovation (STI) call;
- Conduct activities related to Energy Access and Efficiency within the Urban Sector being prepared as part of the EDULINK II call for proposals;
- To serve as a communication liaison during stakeholder consultations on the green economy;
- To perform general administrative duties with regard to (1), (2) and (3) above, as well as other related activities undertaken by the CNULM;
- Support the work of the Sustainable Development Unit of CARICOM Secretariat in advancing the Cities and Green Economy programme of work
The ideal applicant should:
- Be proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite;
- Be fluent in English language communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to write concise and well-structured reports, to present orally, and to have experience in organizing and coordinating meetings and/or consultations;
- Have a strong ability to work in a team environment with a results-based orientation, and an ability to bring tasks to completion under tight deadlines;
- Show a strong understanding of development issues in the Caribbean, and of the need to work with sensitivity and diplomacy in a different culture;
- Be a CARICOM national; resident in Trinidad; not exceeding twenty nine (29) years; and
- Possess at least a first degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management or generic Development Studies with environmental specialization.
- Knowledge of project management would be a distinct advantage.
