New Tropical Depression Strengthens, Likely To Become Tropical Storm Tonight

KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Meteorological (Met) Service of Jamaica says at 4:00 pm the centre of Tropical Depression number 10 was located near Latitude 13.4 degrees north and Longitude 37.3 degrees west or about 1460 km west of the Cape Verde Islands.

The depression is moving toward the west-northwest near 13 km/h. This general motion with some increase in forward speed is expected through Sunday.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 55 km/h, with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast and the depression is likely to become a tropical storm tonight, the Met Service said.

Tropical Depression number 10 is not a threat to Jamaica.
